Tips for the perfect Aussie Christmas

Tis’ the Season!

We’ve finally made it to the end of the year! *Phew* After the year that was we all deserve to put our feet up and have a well-earned break with our family and loved ones, and there is no better way to do that than with the perfect Aussie Christmas day. The sun, the beach the seafood, it’s a Christmas like no other. Take your Aussie Christmas to the next level with these tips!

Start the night before.

As a child, I’m not sure there is a more exciting day than Christmas Eve… and fair enough! There’s presents sitting teasing them from under a sparkling tree and Father Christmas will be in their house in a matter of hours!

Lots of people like to read a traditional Christmas book on Christmas eve before they go to sleep so Santa can get to work. Australian Authors have released their own take on these with an Aussie twist with favourites like, An Aussie Night Before Christmas, The Christmas Wombat, and Aussie Jingle Bells. These funny and irreverent picture books bring waves of nostalgia and excitement and are the perfect way to kick off your Aussie Christmas.

A Christmas Dip

No- not the type that you can coat a chip in (that will come later in the day) An early morning Christmas dip in the ocean is the perfect way to kick things off! Whether it be in the ocean or the local lake or damn, bring a cricket set with you and you’ve got yourself a great morning! There’s also nothing wrong with getting a bit of exercise in before lunchtime!

Crank up the Aussie Christmas tunes!

Let’s be honest, while we all love traditional Christmas songs, while you’re sitting poolside in your swimmers enjoying your bug rolls and pavlova in 30 degree weather, baby it’s cold outside just doesn’t make a lot of sense. You can always whip out the classic bucko and champs Aussie Christmas or if you’re looking for something more modern Delta Goodrem has a new Christmas album with new songs written by her as well as some other classics sans too many winter references.

Embrace Aussie Classics

Australia is home to some delicious food (hello Tim Tam’s) and we should definitely be enjoying it on Christmas day (the one day of the year calories don’t count). If you’ve been follow our advent calendar on Instagram you would have seen our yummy drink and menu ideas based around Aussie favourites that will be an absolute hit. www.instagram.com/themoderngroup

We hope everyone enjoys a safe and happy Christmas and we can’t wait to help you with all your projects in the new year!
